Triumphant 5K Goes October 17 in Support of Vulnerable Kids
Camp Triumph Society will host a 5K run fundraiser on October 17 to bring in valuable revenue lost due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Through this trying time, everyone has had a taste of isolation and the stress that goes with it. That is the daily reality of Camp Triumph campers. They live with feelings of isolation, uncertainty, and worry all the time. These kids still need support.
The event will feature separate men’s, woman’s, and family 5 kilometre runs. All running abilities from serious runner to beginner are welcome and encouraged to sign up.
The course will take the runners from the Camp Triumph site across and through neighbouring Cabot Beach Provincial Park looping back around to finish on Camp Triumph soil where there will be a reception with refreshments.
Participants can sign up through the Running Room’s online portal, pay their $25 entry fee ($20 for early bird), and then are asked to raise at least $175 additional in pledges, which can be donated online. Participants receive a medal, water and post-race refreshments, and a tax receipt for any donations they make personally. Door prizes will be drawn throughout the day and prizes awarded to the top finishers and fundraisers.
The men’s race will go at 1 pm, the women’s at 2:30 pm, and the family run/walk will be at 4 pm. This event is a great chance for runners and families from all backgrounds to be out and active in a time where those opportunities are fewer and far between. All public health protocols set out by the Chief Public Health Office pertaining to gatherings and events will be followed.
